Event info: The eighteenth European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM18)

The eighteenth European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM18) is to be held in the historical and wonderful city of Athens (Greece) from June 24th to 28th, 2018.

ECCM is the leading European Conference on Composite materials.ECCM18 follows the long tradition of ECCM series, and is expected to continue and enlarge a wide ranging fruitful debate on all aspects of composite materials.

The Conference is organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics, University of Patras, one of the Europe’s top Universities in the field of composite materials and structures, under the patronage of the European Society for Composite Materials (ESCM).

Nowadays, the use of composite materials has been rapidly expanding, not only in high performance structures such as aircraft and other vehicles, but also in general engineering. The high specific strength and stiffness characteristics of composites and their capability to withstand high variated operational loads under extreme environments result to low weight structures, thus contributing to the greening of significant fields of everyday life such as Transport and Energy.

ECCM 18 will retain the interdisciplinary character of previous conferences, bringing together scientists, engineers and designers, both of Academia and Industry, coming from all the areas of the world.

In view of a complete and proper exploitation of composites, in the different fields of application, the Conference aims to be a forum for exchanging ideas, presenting the latest developments and trends, proposing innovative solutions and promoting international collaborations.

For this aim ECCM18 is preparing a comprehensive program, which include plenary and keynote lectures, several symposia on a variety of topics as well as technical workshops on subject of industrial interest. The special evening event for PhD students, started in Munich, will be also organized. Special attention will be given to the social program to obtain the maximum benefit from the beauty of the city of Athens.
